What is your job role?

Facilities Building Officer

How long have you worked here?
Have been in the building since 1998 (Manchester City Council) and worked for GMCVO since 2001.

How did you get into this role?
I started as temp with Manchester City Council preparing food for St Thomas centre customers and when GMCVO took over the running of the building I took over the role of caretaker and the position has evolved over the years.

What did you do before?
Have worked within the customer’s service industry most of my life working in hotels in and around Manchester.

What do you like most about your job?
Every day is different, one day you’re setting up meeting rooms for 100 people then the next day you’re taking enquiries from customers and answering their questions. Also working with the Lisa & Lucas, we all seem to work on the same wave length and get on with one another.

What are your hobbies?
I go fishing when I get chance, I like the peace and quiet! I play snooker (very badly), watch football (Liverpool) and like going out eating & drinking.

What is your favourite film/band/food?
Film: There are a few films: Ferris Bueller day off classic, The Italian Job 1969 (not the new one), Gladiator and any Guy Ritchie, Quentin Tarantino films.
Band: I can listen to any kind of music depending on the mood. I watched The Streets earlier this year at the Apollo, I wouldn’t mind going to see the foo fighters and I’m trying to get my 2 kids to buy me and my wife for Christmas tickets to go and see Madness in London (fingers crossed!) * Edited to add that Santa didn't deliver, boo!
Food: Got to be Indian food - lamb Madras or Jalfrezi - the spicier the better. I do like a good burger and hot wings as well though!

Do you own pets?
Have had loads of pets over the years when the kids were growing up, but now they have left we just have 5 cats at home. A ginger cat called Diego - he’s the boss, A Russian blue called Blue - rescued her when she was a kitten, 2 black cats (sisters) called dizzee (this one has moved out) & rascal, A tortoise shell called Flo and our new one is a black and white 6 month kitten old called Lottie. That’s it no more!
